Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their first Fall Classic since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the final seventh game of the ALCS.

Down three runs to one, Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 series win in the series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, our country," said Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now slugged 23 total playoff homers, making him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of anyone else on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot except for him with his playoff prowess," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance throughout the year.

"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of this one," he added.

Toronto won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
