Three-time Most Valuable Player Jokic sustains a 'heartbreaking' leg setback.
Triple National Basketball Association MVP Jokic sustained a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
The Serbian center injured himself late in the first half during an unintentional coming together with team-mate Spencer Jones.
The other player came down on the foot of the big man, who promptly went down to the floor grabbing his leg.
The star, who leads the league season in rebounds and assists, recorded a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game prior to sustaining the injury.
Jokic will have an scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the problem.
"Instantly, Jokic realized something was wrong," stated Denver head coach Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever that suffers an injury, that's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as special as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust together. Of course, right now, I'm more worried just about him personally and the letdown of facing something of that nature."
