The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, his comments indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in the UK and US.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
