The President Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Military Personnel to the White House

Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he conversed with her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors desired. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was kind, considerate and always willing to help others.”

Memorial details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the government to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop providing entry permits to holders of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed a news show that she aimed to speak to the family.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with distinction, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor told the gathering at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
