Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
