Renowned Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.
American performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.
The skilled improv artist succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.
"He considered no one a stranger - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a party host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.
His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.
Finn is remembered by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his family.
