The award-winning broadcaster and filmmaker, Sir Humphrey Burton, has passed away at 94 years old.

Born in Trowbridge in 1931, he established himself as a cherished figure who demystified classical music for a vast audience.
In the 1960s and 70s, he was the BBC's head of music and arts and was honoured with accolades for landmark programmes like The Golden Ring.
The establishment of the Young Musician of the Year in 1978, his initiative, helped launch the careers of artists like Nicola Benedetti.
