NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features text commentary for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the football calendar , following last week's discussion regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, they both lost their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both committed. Philadelphia did so at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter against Denver, who play in London this weekend.
But it proved good to see how Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall and then direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.
The Broncos have the defensive player of the year in CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, and Denver won that battle.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they could position two linebackers in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a nickel from the outside.
Early on in the campaign, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season well then excelled of building upon that.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has stepped up big and recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
It's impressive that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.
That shows that Denver represent a squad that wants to run first, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.
It's also helped QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw all over, but they lack in the same way as Nix. He boasts exceptional arm talent, which is different, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to throw while moving, and using varied release points to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle and past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays great composure under pressure and isn't bothered by the blitz. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and can pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be on the field extended periods, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence has to cover the field downfield side to side. It can be draining.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's fun for him to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. He can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a championship and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB aids make him into who he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to face an elite team at its best? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. All they need is to continue this trajectory.
They excel at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do against the Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.
Since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.
This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since Denver {beat|def
