Grief as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.

A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling persistent crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, with one opened fire on him before escaping on foot.

The reason of the attack remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, as per the official statement.

How It Happened

Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had been present for hours at the building overseeing the setup of safety equipment, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, it was reported.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," authorities confirmed.

Security camera video showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.

Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.

Key evidence, like spent shells, were found at the crime scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.

"We know they traveled on foot after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to find their location," stated a police chief.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.

"I am in shock. I cannot express the pain," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a devastating blow."

She urged the citizens to avoid sharing explicit content from the incident, noting this was an deeply traumatic time, above all for Stock's three sons.
