Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The song was recorded following a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a group of talented individuals. The track blends a mix of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The team running the initiative have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The context in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is primarily spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
